Plot to assassinate G7PF leaders foiled

An assassination plot to kill Andargachew Tsige, the Secretary General of Ginbot 7 Movement and the leaders of Ginbot 7 Popular Force (G7PF) has been foiled. The operation was masterminded by Getachew Assefa, Head of Ethiopia’s National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS) and Tsegaye Berhe, the Prime Minister’s Security Advisor.

According to the Popular Force, Muluken Mesfen, who has been sent with a mission of killing the selected individuals has been under the surveillance of the Force since he came to join the Force. The Intelligence Section of the G7PF has been recording all the telephone conversations that Muluken was having with the Ethiopian government’s spy chiefs.

According to the retrieved phone conversations, the assassination operation named ‘Woyane-O-Millennium’ was set to be executed on November 9, 2013. The selection of the date was made in connection with the graduation event that the Force was set to hold for its new members.

The Operation to kill leaders of the Force and officials of the Eritrean government was thwarted when the assassin, Muluken Mesfin, was taken into custody by the Force.
